PestRecord operates a lead marketplace connecting homeowners with licensed pest control professionals across the Greater Toronto Area. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Ontario's Consumer Protection Act.

2. Information We Collect

From homeowners: name, email address, phone number, postal code, property type, description of pest problem, and preferred contact times. This information is used solely to match you with qualified professionals.

From pest control professionals: company name, contact details, Ontario business registration, pest control license numbers, insurance certificates, service areas, and billing information for credit purchases.

Automatically: IP address, browser type, and page interaction data for fraud prevention and platform security.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Matching homeowners with licensed professionals in their area
• Processing credit purchases and payments through Stripe
• Sending service confirmations and follow-up communications
• Preventing fraud and unauthorized access
• Improving our platform and services
• Complying with Ontario pest control and consumer protection regulations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Who Sees Your Information

Homeowner contact details are only revealed to a pest control professional after they purchase an unlock for your specific lead. Each lead is limited to a maximum of 3 professionals.

Service providers: Stripe (payment processing), Mailgun (email delivery), and Anthropic (AI phone intake). Each operates under their own privacy policy and data processing agreements.

5. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in to your account. We also use a consent cookie (stored in your browser's local storage) to remember your cookie preferences. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Data Retention

Lead information is retained for 7 years to comply with Ontario's pest control regulatory requirements. Account information is retained while your account is active and for 2 years after closure. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us.

7. Your Rights Under PIPEDA

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Withdraw consent (subject to legal and regulatory obligations)
• File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, bcrypt password hashing, and session-based authentication. Payment data is processed exclusively by Stripe and never stored on our servers.

9. Changes to This Policy

We will notify registered users by email of material changes. Continued use of the platform after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
